While doing a final review of the March issue, “I’m so excited!” kept bursting out of my mouth. I began to wonder if my co-workers were getting a bit worn out by my enthusiasm. It then occurred to me enthusiasm is the norm at our office and I’m certainly not the only one to display it. While we all fill different roles, each member of the Kentucky Monthly team has one thing in common: we love, love, love the state we call home. We strive to ensure this passion for Kentucky shines through in the pages of our magazine each month.
We know our readers are supportive of our mission: Celebrating the people, places, events and culture of the Commonwealth. By highlighting the best our state has to offer, we unite Kentuckians everywhere and create a sense of pride and community. We thought why not strengthen this sense of community via the web by sharing some behind-the-scenes information and ponderings on what makes Kentucky so, well, awesome? Thus is born the “Between the Pages” Kentucky Monthly blog.
We received on Tuesday our copies of the March issue, which we themed “Earth, Moon and Stars.” Even though I’d read and reviewed the pages multiple times prior to the magazine being printed, it still felt a bit like Christmas morning to have the finished issue in my hand. If you’ve not yet received your copy or, heaven forbid, you’re not a subscriber yet, let me give you a sneak peek!
So excited about our Star Struck feature!
So excited about the out-of-this-world, quirky travel destinations (such as Dinosaur World) we’ve highlighted!
So excited I had the opportunity to visit Lilley Cornett Woods in Letcher County late last year… and I’m even more excited to share photos and info with our readers!
So excited about our On Location story about movies filmed in Kentucky! (Also so excited – always – about Kentuckian George Clooney.)
So excited about the beautiful “Wildflower Watch” spread!
Again, I say, “Best! Issue! Ever!” Until next month’s issue, of course.
Don’t hesitate to let us know what you think about our magazine – and this new blog. We’d be most excited to hear from you!
