Cumbia All Stars Concert at the Clifton Center
The Clifton Center, located at 2117 Payne Street, will host a concert by the Cumbia All Stars, Trio Brasileiro and Appalatin on the Eifler Theater stage on Sunday, September 27 at 7:00pm. Tickets are $10.
This concert features three great bands, two from South America and one from right here at home. Trio Brasileiro returns to the Clifton Center for its fourth appearance in the last five years, each concert adding to their reputation as one of the world’s greatest performers of choro, the Brazilian traditional music that has been described to a cross between ragtime and bluegrass.
The Cumbia Allstars come from the legendary bands of Peruvian Cumbia and, after 40 years, they meet again to play finally together the music they participated in creating. Few musical styles have been so unanimously popular as Cumbia in Peru. Planting its roots at the capital´s suburbs among the children of immigrants and in remote cities of the Amazonian Jungle, its mesmerizing melodies have been in the air for more than forty years.
Cumbia All Stars is a tribute to such a phenomenon and at the same time a journey in search of the authentic sounds of Peruvian Cumbia. With its bold guitars and jerky beats, Cumbia All Stars dusts off majestically the best songs of the genre and innovates composing new melodies while remaining loyal to its traditional background.Appalatin continues to draw new fans with every performance and their high energy combination of Latin and Appalachian music proves to be a magical stew unlike anything you’ve heard before!
