Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls at The Mercury Ballroom
Folk/punk singer songwriter, Frank Turner, will be returning to Louisville with The Sleeping souls on Saturday, May 28 at Mercury Ballroom.
Frank Turner was initially the vocalist of post-hardcore band, Million Dead, but has since embarked upon a primarily acoustic-based solo career. Turner decided to explore a different world after Million Dead, focusing on his love of folk and country, with acoustic guitar being the guiding force. Plying a brand of honest and passionate folk/punk, Frank Turner rose to prominence with an ever increasing following, but it was in the sweaty climes of the Lock Up Stage at Reading and Leeds 2008 that his solo career really started to take off.
No stranger to the festival, Frank had not only played the Lock Up Tent with former hardcore band Million Dead back in 2005, but also as a tentative solo artist in 2007. Within the following year, Frank’s popularity grew with more touring and the release of second album 'Love Ire & Song.' Since then, he started to play larger headline shows and develop the live band that he was looking for.
Ten Minutes with Frank Turner is enough time to realize why his fans love him. Turner is a gentle, honest musician who can quite believe how famous he is. Frank has a cross-over appeal of punk ethics and strong song-writing abilities fusing a combination of folk
songwriting, catchy melodies and punk passion. Always a fun and energetic showman, Frank Turner makes genuine and thoughtful music without forsaking humor and irony.
