Hippiefest at SKyPAC
Experience the peace, love, and music, which changed a generation. If you never experienced the 60s and 70s (or you did and can’t remember), come be a hippie for a day! The legendary group, The Family Stone (“Everyday People”, “Thank You”, “Family Affair”, “I Get High on You”) headlines the bill. The band features two founding members, saxophonist Jerry Martini, and drummer Greg Errico. Founding member and trumpet player, Cynthia Robinson, who performed with the band throughout most of last year, passed away in November 2015 after a battle with cancer. Phunne Stone, daughter of Sly Stone and Cynthia Robinson, has joined the band as their new female vocalist and playing keys leading them into their 50th Anniversary in 2016. We are thrilled to have guitarist, vocalist, Grammy Award-winning producer Rick Derringer (“Rock & Roll Hoochie Koo”, “Real American”, “Hang On Sloopy”) with us as well. High octane, high performance, supercharged Pete Rivera of Rare Earth ( “Born to Wonder”, “Get Ready”, “Hey Big Brother”) also joins the party. He has been called the premier rock drummer / vocalist of the ’70s, their funky good-time music is still played on classic rock stations across the country. Last but definitely not least, the iconic Joey Molland of the legendary English band Badfinger, will rock the hall. Signed to the Beatles’ Apple label in the late ’60s, Badfinger had four consecutive worldwide hits from 1970 to 1972 (“Come & Get It”, “No Matter What”, “Day After Day”, “Baby Blue”).
