Hunter Hensley, Professor of Voice at Eastern Kentucky University, will perform Medieval chants and early French songs on Wednesday, March 21st at 7:30pm.
Hensley recently completed academic recording projects of medieval music for musicologists at University of California-Berkeley, CA and Cornell University-Ithaca, NY and has performed at three national musicological conferences in the last year and a half.
Scheduled March performances are melodies from the earliest repertoire of 9th c. Gregorian chant, through 14th c. Machaut virelai- songs for dancing. Featured on the program, will be an historic six-stringed Kinnor harp, or cithara. Hensley will play the ancient Kinnor, in his performance of the 12th century lamentation, Planctus David, by Peter Abelard (1097-1142). Please join us in EKU's Meditation Chapel for Hensley's performance. This event is free and open to the public.
