Mayday Parade at The Mercury Ballroom
Mayday Parade is a band that has been around for over a decade. Come see why people just can’t stop listening to this Florida-based band at the one and only Mercury Ballroom on Sunday, March 13!
The band first formed as a joint effort of two separate, but quite popular local Tallahassee bands. The combination greatly assisted the emo-pop group gain a quick buzz around its hometown scene. Their debut EP Tales Told by Dead Friends was released in 2006, and sold over 20,000 copies without any label support.
However, Mayday Parade rapidly climbed the ranks after playing shows on the 2007 Warped Tour, and worked the streets by selling their CD to kids waiting in line. From there they signed a record deal, and began touring with bands such as Pierce The Veil, All Time Low, and PVRIS.
“The whole rise of it has been crazy," said Derek Sanders, the front-man for Mayday Parade. "The first time we [played Warped] in 2007 was unbelievable, and now we doing the main stage, which is really incredible. . . we sold CDs, then we played it, and now we've kind of been rising up. It's great."
In their newest record, Black Lines, the band put together something that has a greater emotional complexity and sophistication: songs that focus less on heartbreak and more on mature, grown-up topics—navigating the nuances of adult relationships and friendships.
Ten years into their career, the members of Mayday Parade are more creatively charged than ever, making their performance one you will not want to miss. With this new-found maturity in hand, Mayday Parade has become a band that everyone can relate to. In a place where the intimate club space is incomparable, and a premium sound that remains unmatched, the Mercury Ballroom really is the best place to see a band like Mayday Parade.
