October 12, 2016 – Kaitlyn Baker - KaitlynBaker.com
Kaitlyn Baker’s music reflects the beauty of the Cumberland Mountains and ruggedness of the coal mining culture in which she was raised. Indeed, this 21-year-old singer/songwriter from Pound, Virginia, has been referred to as a new “coal miner’s daughter.” BuzzFeed called her “feisty” and named her one of 11 “badass alternatives to bro country.”
With influences from Elvis to Loretta to The Beatles, Kaitlyn’s style is traditional country tinged with rock, blues and bluegrass. Her ballad “Coal Train,” which was inspired by her hometown, was included in the official 2015 Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards ZinePak, alongside tracks by such superstars as Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Florida-Georgia Line, Luke Bryan and others. The 2-CD compilation debuted at #4 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums Chart and remained in the Top 10 for three consecutive weeks.
October 19, 2016 - Martyn Joseph - martynjoseph.net/
Martyn Joseph is a powerful singer and songwriter gifted with the rare ability to speak to the soul with his expressive and poignant lyrics. With a career spanning 30 years, 32 albums, over a half a million record sales and thousands of live performances, the versatility of his music touches genres of folk, rock, soul, folk funk and Americana, yet somehow all these labels cannot define the spirit of his music.
Compared to Bruce Springsteen, John Mayer, Bruce Cockburn and Dave Matthews, he has created his own style and reputation as a mesmerising live performer and stands in his own right, built on a reputation for giving what thousands have described as the best live music experience of their lives. A unique talent driven by passion, social awareness and love for his trade, his music manages to empower and speak for the many. He’s a jaw dropping guitar player who has developed a unique percussive style, teamed up with a powerful show stopping voice, and has been called “The Welsh Springsteen”
October 26, 2016 - Matthew Douglas Simpson - https://www.facebook.com/matthewdouglassimpson/
Matthew Douglas Simpson is a strange brew. Dangerously observational, painfully perceptive, a representational artist, painting with pen, pad, and the grit that comes with truth. Madly devoted to honesty, he boldly and bluntly shines a shattering light on flawless facades, including his own. Oh, and he's an ordained minister.
