Shaker Village to host Healthy Community Festival
Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill will host the first of its two family-friendly trail festivals Saturday, September 3. The Healthy Community Spring Trail Festival brings together local health and wellness experts for a celebration of balanced living.
The (un)Pleasant Hill Trail Runs are part of the Healthy Community Festival this year. Distances of 5 miles, 10 miles, 25K and 50K are available to runners and hikers who maintain an 18-minute-per-mile pace. There’s also a 1-mile Fun Run for all ages.
Aspire Fitness will offer strength and fitness advice and lead festival goers through stretching, strength training, and warm-up and cool-down exercises. Health coach, chef and author Kate Horning will perform cooking demonstrations and provide nutrition tips for the entire family throughout the day.
There are many opportunities to get outdoors during the festival, including a kids’ jump zone, wildflower hikes, fresh air and candlelight yoga flows, a nature program about herbal use for health and the home, and more. Local health and wellness vendors will be onsite to talk about their products, and food and beverages will be available for purchase. Download full event schedule here.
Children 12 and under receive free admission to the festival. Adult admission is $10 per person.
