10:00 AM in Weisiger Theater
Sound the Trumpets! takes a light-hearted romp through the history of the trumpet, from found objects to the most fragile and intricately constructed instruments. Master performers Vince DiMartino (United States) and John Foster (Australia) take the audience on a lightning-speed and sometimes humorous journey through the musical history of one of the most vibrant and recognizable instruments: The Trumpet. The duo’s program in the Weisiger Theatre will provide youth an opportunity to learn about a variety of instruments all belonging to the trumpet family such as the conch shell, Shofar, Digeridoo, and English Slide Trumpet and music styles that prominently feature the trumpet including music of the Civil War, New Orleans Jazz, Pops, and Classical.
