Steel Panther at The Mercury Ballroom
Over the top, glam metal group Steel Panther is coming back to Louisville. Appearing at Louder than Life Festival in 2014, the Los Angeles band is bringing their hard rock 1980s parody act to the Mercury Ballroom.
In addition to their comedic and profane lyrics, their on-stage persona is wonderfully exaggerated. Under the alias’ Michael Starr (lead vocals), Satchel (lead guitar), Lexxi Foxx (bass), and Stix Zadinia (drums, keys), the group satirically feigns being a hair metal band that missed their big break in the 80s. Steel Panther’s testosterone driven show brings the sex, drugs, and rock & roll message back to this decade in full force.
Steel Panther’s albums, Feel the Steel, Balls Out, and All You Can Eat, combined with their song titles, Asian Hooker, Eatin’ Ain’t Cheatin’, and Gloryhole, are a dead giveaway to the vulgar hilarity that they exude in their music and performances. Big hair, flashy spandex, and plenty of eyeliner make this show as visually entertaining as it is audibly provocative. Steel Panther’s explosive performance energizes both the stage they are on and the crowd surrounding them.
