The Willis Clan at the Lancaster Theatre
Likened to a modern-day “Partridge Family,” The Willis Clan from Middle Tennessee wowed judges on last year’s television show America’s Got Talent. This twelve-person band is composed of home-schooled siblings who play their own instruments and range in age from 4 to 23 – and all their first names begin with the letter “J”! This talented family began performing professionally in 2004, when an entrepreneur opening an Irish pub on Nashville’s famous Music Row approached them after watching the
children dancing on the bar (there was no dance floor).
This unique group can be seen currently on their reality television show, “The Willis Clan,” featured on cable television channel TLC on Tuesdays at 10:00 p.m., E.T. The show chronicles how the family juggles life with a large brood that – in addition to being gifted singers – includes siblings who are internationally ranked Irish dancers, national swing dance champions, and wrestling champions! In fact, in 2012, the Willis kids won”The Fleadh,” which is the World’s Championship in Irish Music, in Cavan,
Ireland. They have also won eight National Championships in Swing Dance, and the boys have won ten State Wrestling Championships.
The sibling group is known for their bluegrass twists on popular songs, and their unique performance of “My Favorite Things” from The Sound of Music has been viewed on YouTube more than 6.4 million times. The family is busy filming and touring the county together, with dad Toby running production and mom Brenda heading up the business side of things.
