Widespread Panic at The Louisville Palace
Multi-platinum-selling jam band legends Widespread Panic will perform at the Louisville Palace on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at 8 p.m. (doors at 7 p.m.). Fans are encouraged to bring a canned good or monetary donation to benefit Louisville’s Dare to Care Food Bank.
Since 2008, Widespread Panic has been hosting food drives at nearly every show they perform, engaginga demographic that is typically more difficult for charities and food drives to reach. To date the band's Feeding People Through Music endeavor has raised more than $130,000 and more than 22,000 lbs. of food for communities across the country.
With a career spanning 30 years and over 3 million albums sold to date, Widespread Panic has become a fixture for the southern blues genre and one of the most successful touring acts in the world. Formed by original members John “JB” Bell (vocals, guitar), bassist Dave Schools, and late guitarist Michael Houser at the University of Georgia, the group discovered a mutual love for blues and improvisation.
Widespread Panic continue to explore a sound all its own on their 12th studio album, Street Dogs, the follow-up to 2010’s Dirty Side Down. Citing influences including Van Morrison, George Carlin, Miles Davis,Grateful Dead, Steely Dan and more, each member of Widespread Panic brings something different to the table.
