Anderson Monarchs of Philadelphia Coming to Louisville to Promote Youth Baseball
Monarchs scrimmage local team at Skyview Park
What: The Anderson Monarchs of Philadelphia are coming to Louisville as a part of their 2015 Civil Rights Barnstorming Tour. This amazing group of young people and coaches are on a multi-city tour across the US, promoting youth baseball, African American Baseball history, and their impact on Civil Rights Movement. They are travelling on a retro tour bus just like the Negro league teams did in the 1940s.
The team plans to visit the Louisville Slugger Museum and Muhammad Ali Center in the afternoon, and will take part in a scrimmage game with a local youth baseball team that evening at Skyview Park in Jeffersontown.
This team features several players that appeared in the Little League World Series last summer.
This same group visited Louisville in 2012 on a barnstorming tour on the US promoting Jackie Robinson's impact on baseball and American culture.
