Come create and explore art with the Speed Art Museum! Your child will explore the role of a museum curator during this special Speed Art Museum camp. Just like the museum’s founder, Mrs. Hattie Bishop Speed, they can decide what and where their objects will be in their very own galleries!
Campers will learn to handle, conserve, and look at actual objects. This camp brings art to life through fun and unique activities. Your child will have fun painting, printmaking, and drawing.
What makes this camp extra special? We will have special guests visiting the campers. One of the guests is Scott Erbes, the Director of Collections and Exhibitions at the Speed. He will share a conversation with the campers about a curator’s duties. During this visit, campers will get to feel like a real curator by wearing white gloves and handling actual objects from the Museum’s teaching collection.
June 10-14, 2013, 1 pm-5 pm. Age group: 3rd-5th grades.
The camp is $150 for Speed Museum members; $175 for non-members. Space is limited. Summer camps are tax deductible.
