Kevin Palmer will will discuss the Civil War and the effects it had on Winchester and its people in the Bluegrass Heritage Museum 2nd Thursday Program. His emphasis will be on Mattie Wheeler. As a young girl, Mattie kept a diary during the Civil War years while living at Holly Rood. Palmer will use Mattie's words about what she saw from her window to tell the story about the Civil War that took place in Winchester.
Palmer is the Chief of Police for Winchester and works as a volunteer for the Bluegrass Heritage Museum as a Living History Presenter, with his main focus being on the Civil War, and has worked with many of the school groups that come to the museum.
All programs are free and take place at the museum. Refreshments will be offered after the program. Building is handicapped accessible.
