On Saturday, April 13, Moonshine University at Distilled Spirits Epicenter will conduct a two-hour “Out of the Gate!” course on Derby entertaining starring Kentucky’s signature spirit. From the history of the mint julep to bourbon-spirited recipes from the Junior League of Louisville, the afternoon’s curriculum will encompass bourbon’s heritage and culinary applications. The class takes place at 801 South 8th Street from 3-5 p.m. and costs $29 per person. To register, call 502-301-8126 or visit www.moonshineuniversity.com.
“Out of the Gate!” offers the ultimate guide to Kentucky Derby entertaining with bourbon. The class is designed to show how to plan and execute a bourbon-themed Derby party, Oaks Day Brunch or a reception to entertain out-of -own guests and show off your bourbon knowledge. Moonshine University’s in-house bourbon connoisseur, Colin Blake, will demonstrate cocktails and present a segment on in-home track-themed games.
Appetizers from the Derby Party menu in the Junior League of Louisville’s newest cookbook, Bluegrass Gatherings, will be served. The class also will include a tour of Moonshine University’s working distillery.
