Humorist Carl Hurley
Kentucky Humorist Carl Hurley
Kentucky humorist Carl Hurley brings his “Double Funny” comedy show to the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg on Saturday, August l7, 2013, with special comedy-musical guests The Moron Brothers – Lardo and Burley.
Carl, who grew up in the hills of Eastern Kentucky, has entertained audiences around the country for four decades and recorded 16 hit comedy albums. With a mischievous twinkle in his eye, a sublime sense of the ridiculous and an ever-ready punch line, Carl draws from his roots in the tradition of such other American humorists as Andy Griffith and Garrison Keillor. He delights audiences with his singular sense of the absurd. His observations take audiences “off the main road” to the hilariously honest, quirky, often unintentional comedy that happens around us all the time.
The Moron Brothers, whose real names are Michael T. Carr and Mike Hammonds, are also Kentucky-born and raised. They are fine bluegrass musicians who blend hilarious comedy with their songs. ("…If my nose were running money, honest, I’d blow it all on you!") Lardo says that "We feel there's enough sickness, sadness and grief in the world today and the good Lord means for people to have good, clean fun and laughter. Maybe that's the job he chose us to do!"
The Carl Hurley "Double Funny" show begins at 7:30 p.m. All seats are reserved. $31.50. Group rates available. Box office: 888-622-2787.
