The 42nd annual Festival of the Bluegrass will take place at the Kentucky Horse Park from June 11th – June 14th, 2015.
This year’s lineup will feature first-time festival performer Balsam Range, the 2014 International Bluegrass Music Association’s “Entertainer of the Year” and “Vocal Group of the Year.” Other artists include festival veterans IIIrd Tyme Out and Seldom Scene along with The Lonesome River Band, Adkins & Loudermilk, Town Mountain, Barefoot Movement, The Crowe Brothers, Chris Jones and the Night Drivers, Newtown, Dry Branch Fire Squad, Wildwood Valley Boys, The Wooks, The Velvet Blue and The Moron Brothers.
The Festival of the Bluegrass is a family-friendly event that welcomes all ages. Workshops and children events will take place throughout the weekend, and campsites are also available for festival attendees. “The whole vibe around the Festival of the Bluegrass is enhanced by the campers and the folks who attend our event.” Said Anna Marie Cornet, who produces the event with her husband, Roy Cornet. “One person referred to it as a ‘Kentucky family reunion on steroids’ and I think that’s about the best compliment we could get.”This will be the first festival since the death of Jean Cornet, who co-founded the Festival of the Bluegrass with her husband, Bob, in 1974. The mother of six and grandmother of 13 passed away in February.“[The festival] will be a celebration of her, her life and the legacy she has created," says Roy Cornet, who was also Jean’s grandson.
