From the Field to the Finish Line: The Heart of a Thoroughbred, the work of photographer, Dr. Michael Huang at Gallery 104, La Grange, KY
The Arts Association of Oldham County presents: From the Field to the Finish Line: The Heart of a Thoroughbred, the work of photographer, Dr. Michael Huang at Gallery 104, La Grange, KY through June 19, 2015.
Equine photography work of Lexington physician and sports photographer Michael Huang, M.D., is being featured in an exhibit at the Gallery 104 on Main Street in LaGrange. The exhibit will be on display through Friday, June 19, 2015.
Born and raised in the heart of Bluegrass Country in Lexington, KY, Dr. Huang has long appreciated the strength and grace of the thoroughbred racehorse. Although he continues to practice Internal Medicine full-time, Dr. Huang has combined his practice of medicine with his passion for photography and his love of University of Kentucky athletics and thoroughbred racing.
As a freelance photographer, Dr. Huang contributes to Cats Pause and Tops in Lexington magazines. He recently was credentialed for the 141st running of the Kentucky Derby as the primary equine photographer for Tops magazine. Some of the stunning images provide the impetus for the Gallery 104 photography exhibit highlighting his work with the majestic racehorses of Kentucky. When he is not treating patients or taking photographs, Huang likely can be found at the lake fishing with his wife Michelle and sons Grayson and Griffen.
AAOC President, Ann Stroth states, “The Arts Association of Oldham County is extremely pleased to present the work of Dr. Huang, as the gallery undergoes a transformation for displaying works of local artists in the gallery. The AAOC Board of Directors, Executive Director Kathy Dowling, and AAOC members are working hard to provide the community and area with programs and opportunities for artists to showcase their talents. Through our many annual artist competitions, shows, classes, student scholarships, and other programs, we are bringing a new spirit of the arts to Oldham County.”
In the coming weeks, AAOC will feature the work of area and regional artists and crafters during the annual celebration of Arts on the Green, a fine arts and crafts festival, to be held in LaGrange on Saturday and Sunday, June 6 and 7.
Gallery 104 also will host its annual photography show and competition from June 23 to Aug. 8, 2015.
Gallery 104 is owned and operated by the Arts Association of Oldham County. It is located at 104 E. Main Street, La Grange.
