About the Musical Acts:
Blues in the Schools Band
Blues in the Schools is a free program sponsored by the Cincy Blues Society. Sending local musicians out to visit tri-state schools, BITS educates students on the history and significances of Blues music. The BITS Band is a group of students, organized by John Redell, that perform as a lineup at the Cincy Blues Festival and various other community events around the tri-state. They recently came back from performing at the Youth Showcase at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis!
Deb O and Montague
Montague is a local band made up of experienced stellar musicians fronted by Deb Ohlinger that performs Americana, a blend of Blues, Rock and Country. Vocalist/guitarist, Deb Ohlinger, formerly of the band Bluesbent, which performed in the Cincinnati and Northern Ky. area at numerous venues for the past 5 years, is currently involved with multiple musical projects, which include her band Montague, an upcoming CD of original music, and various duo and trio performances.
Cincinnati guitar treasure, John Redell is known for his amazing guitar work as well as smooth vocals and is the recent recipient of The Cincy Blues Society “Lifetime Achievement Award”. As a local musician, John performs solo and in a variety of bands as well as teaches an ongoing roster of students… many involved in Cincy Blues in the Schools program of which John is a director.
Will Eger Studied classical violin while growing up in Boston and played in a variety of North Eastern area bands until moving to Cincinnati mid 80’s. A Member of Ben Duke Band and Uncle Daddy, he plays fiddle, guitar and bass. As a versatile musician, Will is able to bring a variety of sounds to Montague.
The outstanding June Levis is a long time drummer having played with formidable blues artists such as Sweet Alice Hoskins, the late pianist Pigmeat Jarrett and Iris recording artist Albert Washington. June was the original drummer for the Bluebirds as well as current drummer with Ricky Nye and Red Hots, the Blue Ravens, Loosing Lucky, and the Greg Schaber Band.
As a harmonica player, Larry Bloomfield is a respected addition to many local bands and is known for hi melodic, soulful blues playing. Larry has played in a long list of bands including Bluesbent, High Street Rhythm Rockers, and was fortunate to play with Big Joe Duskin.
Montague members enjoy the benefit of the vast experience it’s members bring as well as the eelaxed camaraderie while making music. We enjoy it, and are sure you will too!
Erin Coburn’s Cosmic Chaos
“Erin Coburn is a name you will want to remember. It will be like a freight train blazing down the rail seeing where this young lady goes musically.” – Moose Gronholm (CincyMusic.com, 6/30/14)
Erin is a seasoned musician at a young age – playing across the Cincinnati area and recently back from Nashville and Memphis. She performs music across all genres – everything from rock, blues, to her original music. She is an accomplished guitarist and vocalist – and wait until you see her shred on the electric ukulele.
Erin Coburn’s Cosmic Chaos recently won first place at the Pirates Cove Talent Search and can be seen across Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky! In addition to Erin Coburn on guitar and vocals, Cosmic Chaos consists of John Redell (guitar and vocals), Dixon Creasy Jr. (bass), and Joe Nasser (drums).
Kick Back is a Rock N’ Roll band from Louisville, KY. They play a wide variety of older rock music starting from the 50’s to the late 80’s. The band consists of three members; John Kuzuoka, Ronald McKnight and Jerry Cardin.
John Kuzuoka, Kick Back’s drummer, started playing at the young age of 9 for his school church. He was the drummer for Tobias, a Top 40 rock band based out of Louisville at the age of 15. John is very much a part of Jane’s Saddlebag in many ways. He is the father/father-in-law of the owners of JSB and is a continual supporter of the business. John regularly helps JSB and volunteers at all of their events and festivals.
Ronald (Ronnie) McKnight, Kick Back’s lead guitarist, has been playing guitar for over 30 years. Ronnie has also been a part of a separate Louisville based cover band for 12 years as their lead guitarist.
Jerry Cardin, Kick Back’s lead vocalist and bass player, has been preforming on stage since the age of 14. Music has always been a very special part of the Cardin family. Jerry’s father, Ken, was and still is one of the most supreme Banjo players in the region.
All three Kick Back band members share their love for music and entertaining with each performance and are thrilled to play for all who come to the 2015 JSB Wine Festival!
