Legendary Jazz Guitarist Bill Frisell Donates Performance to Help Fight Homelessness in Louisville
The Clifton Center, 2117 Payne Street, will host a concert by the legendary jazz guitarist Bill Frisell on Thursday, November 19th at 7:30pm. Mr. Frisell will travel from his home in Seattle to Louisville for this benefit concert, and will not be accepting a fee for his performance to ensure that all proceeds will benefit the Coalition for the Homeless and the Homeless and Housing Coalition of Kentucky's efforts to end homelessness in Kentucky. Tickets are $45, with a VIP option available for $75 which includes a pre-concert reception with hors d'oeuvres and a complimentary beverage, preferred parking, and the opportunity to meet Mr. Frisell. Local jazz artist Dick Sisto, who will also be donating his time and talent for the cause, will open the show. Tickets are available at www.cliftoncenter.org or at Carmichael's Bookstore, 2720 Frankfort Avenue.
This concert by Bill Frisell is the prelude to the 5th annual Give-A-Jam to End Homelessness, which will take place at the Clifton Center on Thursday, December 17th. The Give-A-Jam, which was created by Clifton Center director John Harris and his wife Natalie Harris, director of the Coalition for the Homeles, features performances by leading local musicians and artists, as well as food prepared by local chefs - all of whom donate their time and talent to raise funds to fight homelessness in Louisville. The Give-A-Jam has raised more than $100,000 in its first four years of existence.
The Clifton Center's programming is made possible by the help of generous supporters, such as: MINI of Louisville, Louisville Metro Government, West Sixth Brewing Company, DD Williamson, Carmichael's Bookstore, Republic Bank, Joe Hayden Real Estate Team, 91.9 WFPK and the Friends of the Clifton Center. The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, also provides operating support to the Clifton Center with state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.
