Riverview at Hobson Grove is pleased to present Victorian Skills for Young Ladies and Gentlemen, a series of workshops for children ages 8 to 12. Nancy Baird, past Kentucky History Specialist of the Kentucky Library at Western Kentucky University, will lead each of the workshops to be held at the historic house museum.
Participants will learn a traditional Victorian handcraft and create a memento to take home. Each of these 2 1/2-hour workshops is limited to a specific age and number of participants, so reservations are required. All tools and materials will be provided for each workshop.
Wednesdays, October 16 and 30 at 3:30 pm—Knit a Scarf, a two-day knitting workshop for girls ages 8 to 80 who will learn to make a scarf using knitting needles. Knitting originally was a male-only handcraft occupation and derived from the word "knot." A variety of different knitting stitches will be taught, just in time to make a warm scarf for the cool weather!
