Lexington Chamber Chorale Final Concert of Season
The Lexington Chamber Chorale concludes its 25th Anniversary Season with Transcending Time at 7:30pm on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Second Presbyterian Church. This final program of the season is presented in two parts beginning with repertoire retrospective of the Chorale’s first 25 years and ending with cutting-edge choral music featuring a world premiere of a commission written in celebration of the past, present, and future of the Lexington Chamber Chorale. The 2016-2017 season will be announced at Transcending Time as well.
“From pure vocal music of the 16th century to today's vocal music composed of indistinguishable sounds from instruments and instrument sounds as voices, Lexington Chamber Chorale has proudly performed it all in the past twenty-five years,” said Gary L. Anderson, Lexington Chamber Chorale founding director and conductor. Transcending Time surveys the rich history of the Chorale’s twenty-five seasons providing professional chorale music to Lexington’s community. The concert program ranges from a Franz Biebl setting of the beloved “Ave Maria,” to South African folk song “Honono,” to Eric Whitacre’s contemporary masterwork “i thank You God for this most amazing day.” The concert will be presented without intermission to seamlessly transition from the Chorale’s music of the past, present, and future.
