Kentucky Arts Council’s Makings of a Master Exhibit
A classical Chinese music performer and a marble maker will highlight the opening event for the Kentucky Arts Council’s “Makings of a Master” exhibit, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Central time Jan. 16 at Gallery on the Square in Franklin.
The “Makings of a Master” exhibit is on loan from the arts council and contains seven display cases housing a variety of musical instruments, tools and artworks made by master tradition bearers, interpretive panels, display photos and quotes, along with a push-button video display. The exhibit opened in Franklin on Jan. 4 and will remain at Gallery on the Square through Feb. 28. The gallery’s hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
Hong Shao, one of the artists listed in the arts council’s Performing Artists Directory, will perform music on the pipa, a traditional Chinese instrument. Timmy Walden will demonstrate the marble making process, as well as how to shoot marbles and play games like rolley hole.
