Mother’s Day Tea & Celebration
In conjunction with others across the country, the Hosparus Grief Counseling Center will host its 19th annual “Mother’s Day Tea & Celebration” on Saturday, April 30, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at Gilda’s Club of Louisville, 633 Baxter Ave. Hosparus Grief Counseling Center offers the region’s most comprehensive programs and services for children, adolescents, adults and families who are struggling with loss due to death.
Guests are invited to enjoy tea and hors d’oeuvres, connect with other women whose mothers have died and share in their unique grief experience. This year’s guest speaker is Patti Anewalt, director of the Pathways Center for Grief & Loss and oversees a variety of bereavement services for adults, children and teens. Anewalt’s mother died at the age of 54 when she was only 33 years old. By the age of 35, Anewalt and her husband had lost three out of four of their parents, as well as her maternal grandmother. Raising four young children without the support of either her mother or grandmother, Anewalt learned how to create her own family traditions, and they continue today in her children’s families.
Tickets are $15 in advance, and registrations are due by Friday, April 22. Attendees may bring a framed photograph of their mothers to the celebration. To purchase tickets or for more information, call (502) 456-5451 or (888) 345-8197.
