Natural Infant Hygiene Meetup
Babies are born with the instinct not to soil themselves. Many parents and caregivers around the world offer babies a place to pee and poop other than a diaper from birth or when they are just a few months old. Babies will typically move or vocalize in a specific way before they need to go. Just like a caregiver learns the signals that a baby is hungry, a caregiver can learn the signals that a baby has to relieve himself and offer him a place to go other than a diaper.
This is a gentle, non-coercive practice. The opportunity to use a potty (or other receptacle) is offered, not forced!
This technique can be used anywhere from birth to potty independence.
This practice is known by several names, including "Natural Infant Hygiene," "Elimination Communication," and "Infant Potty Training."
Come find out how parents in our area are making this work and what challenges they face, and come share your experiences and give/receive support. We invite you whether you are just curious about this, have lots of experience, and anything in between.
