Old Louisville Open House
Derby Week festivities now has one more delight in store. On Tuesday May 3rd, Old Louisville museums and the visitor center will offer an OPEN HOUSE event. Visitors may come and enjoy the beautiful architectural and arts heritage of Old Louisville for free that day.
The Historic Old Louisville Visitors Center (in Central Park 1340 S. 4th Street) will operate guided architectural tours that day from 10 am -4 pm on the hour. The normal tour admission fee of $15 will be waived, donations will be kindly accepted.
The Conrad-Caldwell House Museum (1402 St. James Court) will be open for tours 10 am -4 pm. The normal $10 per person admission will be waived, donations only.
The Asia Institute Crane House (1244 S. 3rd Street) art gallery space will be open 10 am-4 pm. Donations only.
The Filson Historical Society in the Ferguson Mansion (1310 S. 3rd Street) first floor mansion will be open 10 am -4 pm for tours.
The St. James Court Art Show (in the Carriage House 1387 S. 4th Street) will offer vintage art show merchandise for sale from 10am -4 pm.
All participating venues will have the City of Louisville colors in blue and gold balloons outside to welcome visitors.
Area restaurants are close by such as Amici Café, Buck’s Restaurant, Toonerville Deli, Coco’s Cakes, and Smokey’s Bean as well as Cardinal Towne restaurants at Cardinal Boulevard. Wiltshire at the Speed Museum is also open that day. Old Louisville is only a few minutes from the Speed Art Museum, the Kentucky Derby Museum and Churchill Downs. Come and enjoy Louisville’s greatest urban jewel!
The Old Louisville Arts Council is presenting this day of welcome to Old Louisville. The OLAC is a coalition of arts organizations in Old Louisville including: Old Louisville Neighborhood Council; University of Louisville; Filson Historical Society; Louisville Free Public Library; Kentucky Shakespeare Festival; Kentucky College of Art and Design; Conrad-Caldwell House Museum; Asia Institute Crane House; St. James Court Art Show; Garvin Gate Blues Festival; and Vault 1031.
