Paducah School of Art and Design Hosts Workshops During Summer 2015
Following the success of last year's Master Artists Workshops, the Paducah School of Art and Design will host its second annual workshop program in summer 2015 with an equally impressive selection of experiences and presenters. This year's program focuses on ceramics and small metals, featuring intensive workshops with nationally recognized artists and experienced workshop presenters Chris Baskin, Sharon Massey, Jen Townsend, Jason Hess, Fong Choo, Victoria Lansford, Tim Lazure and Lisa Naples.
Workshops are open to the public and cover a variety of arts topics from jewelry fabrication to Russian filigree to wood-firing in a Manabigama wood-fired kiln. The following workshops will be offered from the end of May until the beginning of August:
May 28-30: Jewelry Fabrication in Steel, Sharon Massey
May 28-30: Soda Firing for Color Content, Surface and Substance, Chris Baskin
June 2 - 6: Casting without Equipment, Jen Townsend
June 2 - 6: Wood Firing and Making Work for Atmospheric Kilns, Jason Hess
June 26 - 27: Demystifying Form: Clay, Play and The Teapot, Fong Choo
July 17-18: Russian Filigree, Victoria Lansford
August 6-8: Ring 360, Tim Lazure
August 7-8: Flat to Functional: Cultivating Personal Expression, Lisa Naples
About the Paducah School of Art and Design
In August 2008, in a collaborative effort between the City, West Kentucky Community and Technical College, and regional interests the Paducah School of Art and Design was created to serve the region and anchor the Lower Town Arts District through the development of a state-of-the-art school of art. Paducah School of Art and Design’s vision is to be a nationally recognized art program that promotes a creative community and regional economic growth. Paducah School of Art and Design offers classes in a wide variety of visual arts studio areas and art history. Students may take beginning and intermediate classes for credit or recreationally and may choose to pursue an Associate in Fine Arts degree.
