Screening Purple Rain in Celebration of the Life and Legacy of Prince Rogers Nelson
Prince’s artistry spanned six decades, numerous genres, several hundred songs and multiple artistic mediums. Last year, the Louisville Palace was proud to host a string of performances by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame musician. On Tuesday, June 7th we celebrate the birth of Prince Rogers Nelson with a singular showing of his iconic movie Purple Rain, in the same venue that held his spectacular shows.
Starting at 6pm, the Louisville Palace will once again be filled with the ever familiar guitar riffs and the angelic voice that has touched us throughout the years as Prince enthusiasts and local DJs, Paul LaPree and Matt Anthony, showcase many of Prince’s greatest hits.
At 7:30pm watch the beloved pop masterpiece that produced four Top 40 hits and remains the nerviest act of Prince’s quixotic career at Louisville’s most unique movie theatre. “Our staff felt privileged to host Prince & 3rdeyegirl’s HITnRUN Tour in 2015,” says Amy Lewis, GM of The Louisville Palace. “By showing Purple Rain on Prince’s birthday, this was one way we could honor his passion and artistry.”
Tickets are $10. Doors at 6pm / Movie at 7:30pm. Event is 18 & older - picture ID required for entry. Proceeds to benefit The Louisville Leopards Percussionists. Tickets may be purchased at LouisvillePalace.com, or at The Louisville Palace Box Office, 625 South Fourth Street.
In the spirit of Prince’s generosity, this event will serve a greater purpose as the ticket proceeds will be donated to The Louisville Leopards Percussionists. From his direct connection with Leopard alumni, Hannah Ford Welton, to Prince’s affinity for developing talent in others, The Louisville Leopard Percussionist embodies Prince’s musical vision.
