Time to Grill: Meats & Garden Veggies at Elmwood
Summertime cookouts will just be getting started when this Time to Grill event comes around. Hamburgers, hot dogs and steaks are the first to come to mind for a cookout, but a grill is an ideal tool for cooking more than just meat. Guests will learn about how to cook various cuts of meat and types of vegetables on the grill, including grilling temperature, length of time, and various marinades and seasonings.
If the crops and weather cooperate, guests will follow Elmwood Stock Farm's Mac Stone on a walk into the field to harvest a few vegetables to put on the grill that evening. The grill will be loaded with Elmwood Stock Farm's organic veggies and meats for a farm-food tasting, and guests will go home with new inspiration for summertime cookouts.

Elmwood Stock Farm, in Georgetown, Ky., is a 6th-generation family farm that began as a producer of Black Angus breeding-stock cattle. The cattle are still an important part of the farm ecosystem and farm business, though over the past decade, the farm has branched out to produce a variety of organic vegetables, fruits, meats, eggs, tobacco and even compost. Elmwood is committed to healthy and wholesome production of superior, high-quality, fresh farm products. Organic certification and close family involvement ensure that safe and sustainable farming practices are followed, livestock are well cared for, and land and water conservation remain a priority. Elmwood's produce, eggs and meats can be found at farmers markets, local restaurants and grocery stores, and through its CSA programs in Kentucky and Ohio.
