Vintner's Dinner Featuring Robert Mondavi Winery
Anton Pestun of Robert Mondavi Winery in Oakville, California, will be the featured guest at the Carson Center Vintner’s Dinner on May 8. Proceeds will benefit the Carson Center, which is a regional nonprofit performing arts center that presents educational and family programming, Broadway productions, and concerts by nationally acclaimed performing artists.
In 1996 Pestun started working at the winery with its late founder and namesake as his mentor. Robert Mondavi established his winery in 1966, and accomplished his vision of creating Napa Valley wines comparable to the world’s finest. Reservations are required for the Vintner’s Dinner, which will pair Mondavi wines with dinner catered by Artisan Kitchen.
The event starts at 6:30 p.m. on stage at the Carson Center. Live music will be provided by The Grumpy Old Men jazz combo. The event sponsor is Wagner Wine & Spirits. The reception will include appetizers (Lamb Kofte Croquettes with Mint Pesto, Maple Glazed Salmon on Crisp Granny Smith Apples, Smoked Mozzarella and Sun-dried Tomato “Cigars”) paired with Fumé Blanc. The seated dinner courses will include Ginger Pear Soup with Ginger-Infused Honey-Hazelnut Brittle, paired with Chardonnay; Wild Rice and Edamame Salad with Dried Cherries and Water Chestnuts on Bed of Arugula, paired with Pinot Noir; Black Pepper and Coffee Encrusted Beef Tenderloin Medallions with Gorgonzola and Fresh Figs, Roasted Potatoes with Herb Vinegar Butter, and Grand Marnier Braised Asparagus with Fresh Candied Cranberries and Almonds, paired with Cabernet Sauvignon; and Grilled Peach and Mango Shortcake with Vanilla Bean Glazed Raspberries, paired with Moscato d’Oro.
