What do you get when you add great music, great food and a great cause together in June? A Win/win/win kickoff to summer! On Friday, June 19, country music singer Mark Wills will perform to help raise money for former racehorses stabled the Kentucky Horse Park's nonprofit Maker's Mark Secretariat Center to transition to new careers and homes. Red State Barbecue, a local culinary hotspot, will serve mouthwatering pulled pork, brisket and chicken, along with other down-home delights such as green beens, corn pudding, beer cheese grits and more. Wash the meal down with fine wines, Kentucky ales, and a Maker's Mark special drink. Finish up with homemade bourbon ball ice cream from Mad Scoops, among other great flavors, or cotton candy and kettle corn.
Horses available for adoption will demonstrate their newly learned skills in the arena. There will be games and a silent and a live auction to support the horses and their needs. The highlight of the night—and surely the best summer kickoff around—is a performance exclusive to the Sips 'N Saddles audience by country music's famed Mark Wills. Wills will sing his Billboard No. One Chart hits such as "Jacob's Ladder," "I Do (Cherish) You" and "Places I've Never Been," along with many other songs during his two 30-minute sets.
The event takes place on June 19, 2015, from 6-9 p.m. at the Maker's Mark Secretariat Center, Kentucky Horse Park, 4089 Ironworks Parkway, Lexington, KY 40511.
