 Lexington Arts League Exhibit:  Ginnie Baer - Gateway to Somewhere

The paintings in this exhibition are inspired by my love of the west/southwest, like Oklahoma’s wide-open spaces or New Mexico’s high desert. The paintings are abstracted, often to a high degree, and have hints of representational imagery – cliffs, bridges, trees, etc. Together, the abstraction and representation form imagined spaces, allowing for a respite from reality… a gateway to some other land. The abstraction allows for expression of my own experiences-- with loss, grief, and chronic illness while also enabling the work to be more open to interpretation and the viewer’s own experiences.
